The Avett Brothers are back for a return performance at Fraze! If you missed them at Fraze Pavilion in 2012 or 2014, you won’t want to miss this summer’s live performance.

Over the years, The Avett Brothers built up a sizable following based on their rowdy, infectious stage shows. In concert, the high-flying ensemble tears through tunes with unbridled energy, popping banjo and guitar strings right and left while inciting stomping sing-a-longs among audiences. At times they would seemingly create their own subgenre onstage – “punkgrass,” for lack of a better word. This much is for certain: The Avett Brothers are a grassroots phenomenon, built from the ground up.

Their songs are honest: just chords with real voices singing real melodies. But, the heart and the energy with which they are sung, is really why people are talking, and why so many sing along.

This sibling string band mixes old-timey beauty and modern beats on their 2016 ninth full-length album, a deeply personal LP, True Sadness, which was nominated for the 2017 Grammy in the Best Americana Album category. The single, “Ain’t No Man,” was also nominated in 2017 for Best American Roots Performance. The brothers confirmed in December 2017 that they are working on their 10th studio album.
